Transition from MetLife to Legal Resources

Do I need to re-enroll to keep my legal benefits?

Yes. Even if you were enrolled with MetLife, you will need to complete enrollment with Legal Resources. Enrollment instructions will be provided by your HR team.

What happens to legal matters I started under MetLife?

Any matters currently opened with a MetLife attorney prior to the transition will continue with that attorney until the matter is resolved. New matters opened after [transition date] will be handled by Legal Resources’ attorney network.

The Legal Resources Legal Plan

How do I use my new Legal Resources Plan?

When you enroll in the Legal Resources legal plan benefit, you will receive a digital member packet. Call the number included in the digital member packet to start using your plan, it's as simple as that!

Who is eligible for the Legal Plan?

Our Legal Plan is offered as a voluntary benefit through Erickson Senior Living. The benefits extend to select family members as well. Details are outlined in our Legal Plan Overview.

What out of pocket expense might I expect?

The Legal Resources Plan handles all attorney fees for the most common legal services. However, you are responsible for non-attorney expenses such as court costs, filing fees, or any fines imposed.

Does the plan include dependents?

Yes! Legal Resources considers spouses, unmarried children under 19 who reside with you, and full-time students up to age 26 as qualifying dependents.

How do I contact my Law Firm?

Your membership card will have all the contact information needed to contact your law firm. You may also look up your law firm's contact information on our website. When you call your law firm, please let them know you are a Legal Resources Member and provide the membership ID number listed on your Member Card.

Are pre-existing issues included?

Yes! Pre-existing matters are included in your plan at a significant discount off the hourly rate of the attorney. It is very important to join Legal Resources before you have a legal need to enjoy the maximum savings from the plan.

Parent Coverage

Does the Legal Resources plan cover my parents?

Yes. Parents of Legal Resources Members are eligible to receive legal services at a 25% discount on attorney fees when using a Legal Resources Network Law Firm.

Are there any requirements for my parents to use the plan?

Yes. Parents must live in an area where a participating Legal Resources Network Law Firm is available. Please call Member Services at 800-728-5768 for availability.

Are there additional costs for parent coverage?

There are no extra monthly fees. However, parent coverage is offered at a 25% discounted rate off the attorney’s hourly fees rather than fully included.

Identity Theft Protection

Doesn't my credit card company already provide identity protection?

Your credit card company may cover fraudulent purchases made with your card, but nearly 70% of identity theft results from non-credit card related fraud. Some of these thefts include data breaches, stolen Social Security Numbers, tax fraud, and hackers taking over bank accounts.

Is there any paperwork I have to fill out to sign up for this product?

You will enroll according to the guidelines set by your company. There is no additional paperwork required. You will create an online profile based on instructions sent to you by Legal Resources. However, if an incident occurs, identity restoration specialists may need you to fill out some paperwork depending on the matter.

How does the identity protection plan work?

The Legal Resources Identity Protection Plan continuously monitors thousands of websites, chat rooms, blogs, and public records for potential threats to your identity. You will immediately receive an alert of suspicious activity through our rapid alert system via email. If you become a victim of identity theft, you will speak with certified protection experts who know exactly what to do to quickly help you recover from identity theft.

Is this an individual or a family plan?

Plans are available as individual and family plans. However, plan availability is based on employer-specific policies. Check with your HR department to verify what your employer offers.
